Sometimes it seems like love is an unpopular cause, but courage and love are all we need in order to do what must be done. We know this well because we have some understanding of God's love. We know that His love is so abundant and abounding that, once we have an understanding, we must share it. Part of sharing this love is spreading the message.
Matthew 28:19-20, in the translation of the Good News Bible says, "Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, 20 and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age.”
We are called, by God, to love all....with all; no bars held- the same kind of love God shared when He gave His Son (knowing we'd sometimes falter).... unconditional and open.
Matthew's writing tells us to go to all peoples everywhere; not just our family and friends, but the everyday folks that we come in contact with- the student in the hallway, the gas attendant, the older gentleman taking a stroll. We have an opportunity, in each moment that we encounter one of God's creations, to have a discussion, a brief smile or even a bit of eye contact.
When we do this we are "baptizing", in a way. Baptizing, is ones' introduction to God and His love. Showing the way is simply living as an example and so the way is shown. The kicker about this is contained in the last line of this great commandment; I will be with you always, to the end of the age.
Wow, isn't God awesome. To think, all it takes is to share the God in you by sharing love..... courageous, honest, open, true, and full.
